Artists Biography
Maureen O'Mahony
Maureen O'Mahony was born in Tipperary in 1963 and now lives near in Tralee Co Kerry.
Always a keen photographer she has developed this passion into oil painting. A self taught artist her influences are diverse but she is strongly drawn to the old masters such as Rembrant and Whistler for their ability to convey atmosphere through colour and tone.
"What inspires me are the moments we all see and wish to hold forever. What I wish to convey are the emotions of childhood innocence using alluring colours and creating shades of mystical light".
Maureen paints a variety of work from still life to landscape and figurative. Working from her studio at home Maureen takes on a limited amount of commission work each year.
